Noted for low energy-consumption, low pollution and high added-value, in 2013, China’s cartoon industry revenue surged to RMB 80 billion as annual TV animation output broke the 200,000-minute mark, taking the top position in the world. In the same year, income from China’s gaming industry exceeded RMB 100 billion,with 490 million registered gamers, while China’s share in global online and mobile gaming market crossed the threshold of 30%.

In the wake of development of mobile internet technology, China’s mobile gaming industry has shot into the prominence, with annual income reaching RMB 11.24 billion in 2013, a year-on-year increase of a whopping 246.9%. Small-scale gaming R&D teams are mushrooming nationwide, as self-developed products have received increasing attention. In the short time span between 2012 and 2013, over 1,200 mobile-phone game titles came online, with 11 mobile-phone games exceeding monthly revenue of RMB 20 million.

China’s cartoon and game industry has maintained robust growth in overseas market, propagating into over 100 countries in the world. In 2011 alone, 131 self-developed cartoon and game products by 34 Chinese companies made into the overseas market, reaping sales revenue of USD 360 million, a 56.5% year-on-year growth.

The explosive development of cartoon and game industry has accelerated the union with the capital market. Asian market emerged as the top buyer in the M & A storm sweeping global gaming sector in 2012. For the fist half of 2013, the capital market capacity of China’s mobile gaming industry reached tens of billions of yuan.
